Richard leaned back against the headboard, feeling the day's stresses evaporate. He was in the process of going through his grandfather’s things, an endeavor he'd approached with a mixture of curiosity and affection. It wasn't a chore, but an intimate exploration of a life he'd never fully understood.

He found a small, leather-bound album. Inside were photographs he’d never seen before. His grandfather's life, as the family had always described it, had been filled with a steadfast devotion to his grandmother. However, a picture revealed a different truth: his grandfather, young and handsome, smiling at a woman who wasn't his wife. Richard chuckled softly. The truth, it seemed, was more interesting than the legend.
